Turn off unnecessary lights

 
This action has been done 47,478 times which means we've cut carbon emissions by about 6,504,486 kg and it's a bit more likely we'll be able to see the the Milky Way too.

All those offices with lights burning bright at night. Are they really all full of people working late? Or is it some cock-eyed theory of aesthetics which says that lighting an empty space is beautiful? Ivory was considered beautiful once.

    TURN YUR LIGHTS OFF!!!

    i used to always leave my lights on for no reason but then i thought to myself what harm would it do if i turned the lights off when i didnt need them on. so i eventually turned all the lights off when i didnt need them on and my mum was happy aswell because the electricity bill was cut down by alot.this is also an efficient way to save money 24 February 2010, 10:26

    Turning off Lights

    Sometimes it means that you (unintentionally) turn the same light on and off 3 or 4 times in half an hour. My partner thinks this wastes more power, however I at least try to do the right thing. 10 January 2010, 12:49

    i thought

    when i have a bath i have the rdio on in one room and the light on in it, i then have the bathroom light on a and my bedroom light on all at once when i only stay in the bathroom (bath). this wastes a lot of electricity so i have recently turned of my bedroom and other room (with radio) light off. i have done this for 4 nights 12 December 2009, 18:46

    Turning off lights.

    Because of the different lighting system I have got in my dining room, after I finish studying, I turn off the unnecessary ones and just leave one light bulb on if anyone is in the room or just turn the lights off :) 16 November 2009, 22:37

    Oh my gosh.. in my school, the teachers haven't really heard of natural light, so they shut the blinds and turn the lights on. I, however, go into the classroom, prise the blinds open and turn all the lights off. Some of the teachers dont seem to like it, but they'll get over it. (: 22 October 2009, 20:44

    Turning of the lights when Im/Family are not in ro


    My family go round leaving on all the lights when there not in the room even when they go down for dinner or pop out to the off license down the road they leave not only the lights on but the tv, hi-fi ect so...while I'm killing time for my dinner to cool down I go round turning it all off unless my brothers in a middle of a game other wise I'd never hear the end off it!!!     09 May 2008, 14:29

    Not for big business

    Hi folks. I got annoyed about the waste of electricity in my house and office, so I invented something to reduce it. I can't say too much because it is still in patent pending stage, but it does look like it's a definite commercial seller and a genuine energy saver. My problem is that everyone I show it to wants a slice of the money pie, and is interested in selling it for the maximum price possible. I want to sell it as cheaply as possible so more people use them and therefore more energy is saved. Has anyone got any ideas on where to go to look for funding? The carbon trust and places like that are all ok, they're pretty much guaranteed, but they will only match what I raise myself, and of course no-one wants to invest without seeing maximum profits.
