Here's a really easy action you can start doing - only fill your kettle with the water you need. Good thing is (aside from being great for the environment, blah, blah, blah) it takes less time to boil, so quicker cup of tea. Brilliant.

one time i overfilled the kettle and when it had finished boiling in the kettle, the water inside started to bubble up and spill out of the kettle because there was too much water inside of it, and some water splattered on me and burnt me. 15 February 2010, 21:36COFFEEEEEEE!!!

Well, at our house we make an entire pot of tea with all the water and what we do not drink gets put in the fridge and drunk as iced tea later on. 23 January 2010, 18:19Kettle
We have a kettle that only heats one cup of water up at a time. So we never boil too much 14 January 2010, 18:05too much hot water
working on this one. It's a life time habit to put too much water in the kettle. Usually I'm rushing about doing a load of things at the same time so don't notice how much water is in the kettle. 08 January 2010, 00:10did it :)
i made a cup of tea for my family, like i do most nights, and i didn't over fill it :) 02 December 2009, 19:50kettle

I'm getting better at this, but old habits die hard! When you're cooking or making tea, it's routine to fill it to the top-but I am getting better and now only use a little bit for teas and coffees... 16 October 2009, 11:44don't overfill your kettle
part of the morning routine - it makes sense ecologically & optimises efficiency :-) 14 October 2009, 08:46done this
i only use what amount of water i need for one cup 01 July 2009, 13:29eco kettles
i'm going to buy an eco kettle this week that allows me to use only the amount i need for each drink. Saves water and energy and according to electrical store Curry's they promise "Buy any appliance from us and we recyle your old one for free." so they can have my old leaky one. : ) 09 August 2008, 11:01
Hot Shot
I wish I'd had the foresight to have the hot water on demand spout installed in my kitchen. I missed that boat - so, I got a Sunbeam Hotshot. It heats up a large mug of water very quickly - much faster than running the microwave or heating it on the stove. It also dispenses right into my cup. A quick and easy solution and no waste. 23 July 2008, 11:17
Lots of tea
I drink a lot of tea. And Miso soup too. So I use the kettle a lot and used to overfill it a lot too. But now I have officially stopped overfilling the kettle and shall never do it again. I am very proud to have completef Action 38 and I encourage all you avid tea drinkers to do the same. 27 June 2008, 00:47
