Children do it instinctively - they want to touch and be touched, to hold and be held. But for some reason as we grow up, we stop hugging.

So if there's one bit of advice we'd give everyone on this site, it would be this. Touch someone you love. Hold them. Stroke them. Kiss them. It's one piece of magic we can all do every day.

    Walking through town, i spotted a 'special' looking man walking past a row of shops with a large, very colourful sign reading 'FREE HUGS'...
    but, much to my surprise, no one seemed too willing to take up this generous offer, so, throwing caution to the wind, i hugged the guy.

    We all need physical warmth at certain times; be sensitive to the huggee's needs though - hugs aren't always welcome! If you want to give a hug (and believ it would be welcome) make it a biggun! With your arms ALL the way round! Gently patting or stroking the huggee's back can be very soothing. Grasp opportunities to hug whenever appropriate - never let a chance go by.     Hugs really do make you feel happier. :) At some middle schools, they discourage hugging...? O_o I think that's really sad. I mean, I guess I can see that SOME people cause problems, but a majority of the kids just want to hug their friends.
